Just over half of South Korean workers use generative AI, central bank survey finds

( August 18, 2025, 05:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: More than half of South Koreans in employment use generative artificial intelligence tools at work for an average of five to seven hours a week and report increased productivity from the technology, a recent survey by the country’s central bank found. The Bank of Korea said today that its survey found 51.8 percent of those surveyed use generative AI tools for work, about twice the comparable figure of 26.5 percent in the US. Respondents also reported that the use of generative AI tools saved an average of 3.8 percent of the time spent performing their work — or about 1.5 hours in a standard 40-hour work week. The survey was conducted among 5,512 employed South Koreans in the month until June 17. The report, in Korean, is attached....
