Injunction against Google over app store opens security risks, experts tell US appeals court

( August 15, 2025, 16:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Former national security officials and scholars warned a US appeals court that forcing Google to make changes to its app store in a monopolization lawsuit will significantly weaken the security provisions in the mobile-app-store market in several ways, providing an easier path for sophisticated adversaries to launch cyberattacks. They argued for a stay of an injunction, saying that it would tie Google’s hands by limiting the measures it can take to secure apps and by subjecting its security measures to review by a technical committee and district court, which are ill-equipped to manage the barrage of security threats that will emerge as soon as the injunction goes into effect.See attached file....
