China issues draft notice on recalls, marketing of smart, connected EVs

( August 15, 2025, 09:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s State Administration for Market Regulation and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have jointly issued a draft notice to tighten defect investigations and recall management for smart, connected new-energy vehicles. Open for public comment until Sept. 15, the proposal would require automakers to step up monitoring for defects, mitigate cyberattacks and ensure production models with combined driver-assistance systems match approved specifications. It also calls for stricter oversight of advertising, banning false or exaggerated claims about driver-assistance features. Automakers would also be required to promptly report safety incidents and crashes involving such systems, which would then be subject to thorough government investigations. The statement follows and the notice is attached. ...
