Google seeks panel rehearing, rehearing en banc in Epic Games US monopoly suit

( August 15, 2025, 01:28 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google filed a petition for panel rehearing and petition for rehearing en banc after a US appeals court found for Epic Games in an app store monopolization lawsuit and imposed an injunction against Google. In its motion to the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, Google said the panel’s opinion in the case granted Epic Games "a do-over," allowing it to avoid preclusive findings of competition between Google and Apple. The panel then affirmed an unprecedented injunction requiring Google to create new services tailored specifically for its rivals, Google said. "Rehearing is critical to harmonize this Court’s precedents on important issues of antitrust law, ensure consistency with other circuits, and adhere to the Supreme Court’s requirements," the motion said. The document is attached....
