OpenAI seeks to dismiss Hawaii lawsuit over safety commitments

( June 17, 2025, 19:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: OpenAI is seeking to dismiss a federal lawsuit filed by Hawaii resident Tamlyn Hunt over the company's safety commitments, arguing that his product liability claims for defective design, failure to warn and negligent design fail because he hasn't alleged a sufficient injury. His public nuisance claims also fail because they "do not apply to potential and abstract harm that may result from the use of a lawful product," OpenAI said. "Additionally, Plaintiff’s purported grievances are policy issues that the Court cannot resolve without subjectively balancing competing society-wide policy interests," OpenAI said.See attached document....
