US DOJ asks to participate in oral arguments in sugar price-fixing case

( August 12, 2025, 22:37 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Department of Justice asked a Minnesota federal judge to allow for the Antitrust Division to participate in oral arguments over pending motions to dismiss in purported class action price-fixing litigation against American Sugar Refining, Domino Foods, Michigan Sugar, United Sugars and Commodity Information. The DOJ has an interest in the information-sharing claims made by plaintiffs in the case "because the government has pending challenges to information exchanges facilitated by intermediaries," it said in a motion filed in the District of Minnesota. The DOJ would also be helpful by explaining to the court "how some of Defendants’ arguments could harm antitrust enforcement beyond the specific context of this case," the motion said.See attached file....
