US universities, platforms hit with price-fixing suit over 'early decision' applications

( August 8, 2025, 17:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: More than 30 private US universities have been accused of engaging in a tuition price-fixing conspiracy alongside Common Application and Scoir Inc. that is designed to reduce or eliminate competition through the "early decision" admissions process, according to a class-action lawsuit filed by former students in the District of Massachusetts. The schools employed common application products to enforce and facilitate the conspiracy's anticompetitive restraints, and all defendant schools are, or have been, members of an information-sharing consortium that also facilitates horizontal restraints, the suit alleges.See attached document....
