Google asks US court to stay injunction pending rehearing in Epic Games suit

( August 9, 2025, 00:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google asked a US appeals court for a stay of the permanent injunction imposed on it in a lawsuit involving app store monopolization brought by Epic Games, pending a forthcoming petition for rehearing and appeals to the Supreme Court, if necessary. Google said the injunction upheld by the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit leaves two of America's leading and competing technology companies, Google and Apple, subject to fundamentally different regulatory regimes imposed by two different panels at the court. "A stay is warranted to permit further review of these weighty conflicts given the extensive irreparable harms the injunction will inflict on the entire Android ecosystem, including Play’s over 100 million U.S. users and over 500,000 developers," Google said. The injunction will also hobble Google’s ability to effectively compete with Apple, it said.See attached document....
