Tech groups urge Ninth Circuit to review class certification in authors' case against Anthropic

( August 7, 2025, 12:12 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex: Tech and business groups including TechNet, the Computer and Communications Industry Association, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and NetChoice have submitted amicus briefs urging the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to review a lower court order certifying a class of book authors suing artificial intelligence company Anthropic for copyright infringement. “The risk of vastly increased litigation from wrongly certified, bloated class actions can chill innovation and investment in critical AI technologies," CCIA Senior Counsel for Innovation Policy Josh Landau said in a statement. "The court of appeals should stem that tide now to ensure that America can remain the undisputed leader in AI development and deployment.”See attached files....
