Coalition seeks US FCC vote on UScellular transactions with T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon

By Wesley Brown ( August 8, 2025, 17:14 GMT | Insight) -- A coalition comprised of the Rural Wireless Association, Inc., the Open Technology Institute at New America, the Benton Institute for Broadband & Society, and the Communications Workers of America requested a full US Federal Communications Commission vote on AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile's transactions with UScellular, according to a public filing. The US FCC released a memorandum opinion and order by its acting chiefs of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau and Office of International Affairs approving the T-Mobile-UScellular transaction on July 11. The coalition argues “it would be unlawful for the Commission to delegate the authority to its staff.” A coalition comprised of the Rural Wireless Association, Inc., New America's Open Technology Institute, the Benton Institute for Broadband & Society, and the Communications Workers of America requested a full US Federal Communications Commission vote on AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile's transactions with UScellular, according to a public filing made yesterday....
