Irish watchdog up to speed with merger reviews, despite rising notifications

( July 30, 2025, 13:26 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Ireland's Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has said that in 2024, more than 70 percent of merger determinations were cleared within 14 days under the simplified process, despite deal notifications increasing by 21 percent. The CCPC said in its latest activity report that it started five new investigations on suspicion of competition-law breaches and carried out dawn raids at two premises as part of an ongoing cartel-related probe into home alarms. In its capacity as a consumer authority, the CCPC prevented almost 180,000 unsafe products from reaching the domestic market.Statement follows. The report is available here. ...
