Meta’s AI training opposed by two-thirds of German users, Noyb survey says

( August 7, 2025, 05:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: While 7 percent of Meta users in Germany support the company’s use of personal data for AI training, 66 percent actively said they don’t want their data to be used for that purpose, according to a survey commissioned by Austrian privacy group Noyb. The survey’s findings — based on responses from a thousand Meta users in Germany — challenge Meta’s reliance on “legitimate interest” under the GDPR, with 27 percent of Facebook and Instagram users unaware of Meta’s practice. Noyb said Meta’s approach lacks a valid legal basis and that it is assessing legal action, including a potential class claim.Press release follows, report is attached....
