Shein gets EUR1 million fine in Italy for false claims about sustainability

By Júlia Tar ( August 4, 2025, 11:48 GMT | Insight) -- Online clothes retailer Shein has been fined 1 million euros by Italy’s competition regulator for allegedly making misleading and unsubstantiated environmental claims about its clothing lines and sustainability commitments. The watchdog ordered Shein to halt the unlawful practices and to report back within 90 days on compliance steps. It also warned that continued violations could lead to further sanctions.
