Thai privacy regulator steps up enforcement with fines in five cases in 2025

( August 1, 2025, 12:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Thailand’s data protection authority has stepped up enforcement of its Personal Data Protection Act, issuing eight administrative fine orders across five cases so far this year, following the first one in 2024. In total, Deputy Prime Minister and Digital Economy and Society Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong said the Personal Data Protection Committee has issued nine enforcement orders in six cases, totaling more than 21.5 million baht ($654,000) in fines since the law took effect. This year’s cases span both the public and private sectors, including a major hospital and a cosmetics company.
