Christchurch Casinos to pay $2.98 million over breaches of New Zealand's AML law

( August 1, 2025, 06:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: New Zealand’s Christchurch Casinos has reached an out-of-court settlement with the country’s Department of Internal Affairs in civil proceedings over alleged breaches of the company’s obligations under anti-money laundering laws. In a statement, the government department said that Christchurch Casinos had admitted all seven causes of action and had agreed to join authorities in recommending that the High Court impose a penalty of NZ$5.06 million ($2.98 million). The allegations involved breaches of the 2009 Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act.
