( July 30, 2025, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing a 40 percent tariff on Brazil, citing a national security threat from the country stemming from tech censorship and alleged persecution of political rivals. The tariff rate takes effect Aug. 6 and is in addition to any Liberation Day "reciprocal" tariff rate the US is expected to impose. Trump exempted several goods from the retaliatory tariffs, including silicon metal, pig iron, civil aircraft and parts, metallurgical grade alumina, tin ore, wood pulp, precious metals, energy and energy products, and fertilizers.Executive order below:...
