Telefónica fined in Spain for second breach of behavioral commitments in DTS acquisition

By Jean Comte ( July 30, 2025, 14:11 GMT | Insight) -- Spanish telecoms company Telefónica has been fined 20 million euros by the national antitrust regulator, for not respecting one of the conditions imposed for the acquisition of broadcasting company DTS in 2015. The relatively high amount of the fine is justified by the fact that Telefónica had already breached those requirements, and been fined for the first time two years ago.Spanish telecoms company Telefónica today received a fine of 20 million euros (around $23 million) from the CNMC, the national antitrust regulator, for failing to comply with a commitment in a merger (see here)....
