Filing fees for dealmakers would rise sharply under Papua New Guinea proposal

In a statement marking the release of the discussion paper, PNG’s Independent Consumer & Competition Commission said its proposal would increase the fee for a basic clearance application from the current K20,000 (kina) ($4,800) to K50,000 for a Phase 1 review applying to transactions valued at above K50 million. The ICCC said that the proposed increase would “reflect the rising costs associated with processing such applications.” The deadline for submissions has been set for Aug. 29.The ICCC's discussion paper and press release are attached. ...
