EU method to calculate clean flexibility needs gets ACER approval

( July 28, 2025, 16:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: European power system operators now have a clear method for assessing clean flexibility needs, following today's approval of a new framework by EU energy regulator ACER. The plan aims to quantify the EU’s flexibility needs from non-fossil fuel sources — such as storage, demand response and flexible generation — ACER said. These resources are essential to shift electricity demand and supply in line with grid availability and market signals. EU countries are now required to carry out a flexibility-needs assessment and submit their findings by July 2026. ACER will use this data to define indicative national targets for clean flexibility by July 2027.Full statement follows:...
