Digital platforms targeted in UK Smart Data scheme under new proposal

( July 28, 2025, 15:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Online platforms could face new duties to give users real-time access to personal data, under a Smart Data scheme proposed today by the UK government in a consultation. The move would extend data-portability rights beyond existing regimes in banking and energy, using powers in the recently enacted Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.
