The EU got its US trade deal; the devil will be in sectoral details

But key sectors — including steel, aluminum, pharmaceuticals and semiconductors — remain unresolved. Steel will be subject to quota-based limits that have yet to be determined, while pharmaceuticals and chips remain under active US national-security review. A joint statement is being drafted to reflect the terms of the deal, but EU officials say it won’t be legally binding, and implementation will depend on follow-up actions by both sides.The EU's newly secured trade agreement with the US may halt escalating tariffs by introducing a 15 percent baseline on most exports.
