UK adoption support charity fined by privacy watchdog for destroying records

The charity was fined 18,000 pounds ($24,000) after it destroyed approximately 4,800 personal records, up to ten percent of which may be irreplaceable, the Information Commissioner’s Office said in a statement today. Birthlink failed to train staff or implement basic records management policies and continued destroying records despite warnings, the regulator said.
