Yardi, RentGrow cannot escape liability under DC consumer law, advocates say
( June 18, 2025, 13:37 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Tenant screening company RentGrow's service is a "consumer transaction" covered by the District of Columbia Consumer Protection Procedures Act, the National Association of Consumer Advocates said in opposition to the company's motion to dismiss. "RentGrow receives payment from landlords and managers who pay for its service as a result of consumer demand for housing," the opposition states. NACA also said RentGrow's parent company Yardi should not escape the lawsuit, as Yardi's service through RentGrow is "received in the District [of Columbia] and is the subject of the CPPA claim."
