AI-generated image abuse poses cross-border enforcement challenges, UK review finds

( July 21, 2025, 10:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Generative AI developers and online platforms are implicated in the creation and spread of intimate image abuse but operate within fragmented regulatory frameworks, a UK-funded global review published today has found. The report, commissioned by the UK government and authored by Humane Intelligence, identified legal and technical gaps in addressing technology-facilitated gender-based violence in several countries. It said that while some jurisdictions, including the UK, Australia and South Korea, have laws targeting AI-generated sexual abuse content, enforcement remains inconsistent.
