EU member states agree to delay battery due diligence rules by two years

( July 18, 2025, 10:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU member states today adopted a law delaying due diligence requirements for battery producers by two years, with the new rules set to take effect on Aug. 18, 2027. Part of the so-called Omnibus IV package, the postponement aims to support industrial competitiveness by reducing regulatory complexity. The European Commission will also be required to publish implementation guidelines one year in advance to help businesses prepare. The law will be published in the EU’s official bulletin in the coming days.Statement follows....
