Hong Kong, Macao regulators sign MOU on privacy protection

( July 17, 2025, 09:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Hong Kong's Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data and Macao's Personal Data Protection Bureau have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance collaboration on personal data privacy protection. In a statement issued earlier this week, the Hong Kong regulator said the authorities will also jointly propel the development of the digital economy in the Greater Bay Area, which includes the two cities and parts of China's Guangdong Province. In addition, they will share good practices, work together to facilitate safe cross-border data flow within the Greater Bay Area, and provide mutual assistance in investigations and enforcement actions, the statement said.
