Acciona's buy of East Rockingham facility faces pushback from Australian regulator

( July 17, 2025, 02:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Global infrastructure developer Acciona’s bid to acquire the East Rockingham Waste to Energy Program, which is currently in receivership, is facing headwinds in Australia, with the antitrust watchdog raising competition concerns. In a statement of issues, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said that its preliminary view was that the deal was likely to have the effect of lessening competition in the supply of putrescible waste-disposal services in the Perth and Peel region by removing competition between the East Rockingham Project and the Kwinana Waste to Energy facility.
