Google moves to dismiss edtech privacy suit for collecting K-12 students' data

( July 14, 2025, 22:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- Google seeks dismissal of a class action brought by parents of public school students, who allege Google unlawfully collected and used minors’ data through trackers embedded in its school-issued Chromebooks and Workspace for Education. Google claims it does not need parental consent to collect students' data, as it obtained consent from schools, and that plaintiffs' state law claims are preempted by the federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. It also argues that plaintiffs' allegations are too vague to survive.See attached filing....
