Fanatics opposes Panini's request for dismissal of second amended US complaint

( July 11, 2025, 23:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Fanatics Collectibles Topco told a New York federal judge that rather than compete on the merits, Panini instead launched a campaign of retaliation when athletes, leagues and players associations sought a better partner for licensing their intellectual property for trading cards. In a memorandum of law in opposition to Panini's motion to dismiss portions of Fanatics' second amended complaint, Fanatics argued that Panini tortiously interfered with Fanatics' prospective athlete deals. "Panini’s anti-competitive playbook included threatening its own at-will employees with meritless litigation if they left to join Fanatics, as the Court already ruled Fanatics has plausibly alleged in this litigation," Fanatics said.
