LyricFind opposes Musixmatch, TPG motions to dismiss US antitrust lawsuit
( July 10, 2025, 18:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: LyricFind urged a California federal judge to reject TPG Global's and Musixmatch's motions to dismiss its lawsuit. The case alleges that Musixmatch and its private-equity owner TPG schemed to foreclose competition in the markets for Lyric Data Services and Lyric Rights Licensing — two inputs that digital service providers need to display song lyrics on their platforms, according to LyricFind. "LyricFind has suffered quintessential antitrust injury," the plaintiff argued in an opposition to Musixmatch's motion to dismiss. "Its lost profits and depressed value flow directly from Musixmatch’s efforts to foreclose competition and reduce market choices — precisely the type of harms that the antitrust laws were designed to prevent."See attached court filings....
