TikTok faces new inquiry in Ireland over data transfers to Chinese servers
( July 10, 2025, 11:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: TikTok is under investigation again in Ireland after revealing that some European user data had been stored on servers in China, the Data Protection Commission announced today. The DPC said TikTok had submitted inaccurate information that contradicted assurances given during a previous investigation, and that it's now examining whether the company violated EU data-transfer rules. The inquiry follows a May investigation that led to a fine of 530 million euros, though a court suspended the related transfer ban in June, pending an appeal hearing scheduled for October.Statement follows....
