InBody, Blueair among 162 apps named by regulator for illicit data practices in China

( July 4, 2025, 09:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Apps developed by South Korea’s body composition device maker InBody, Denmark’s electronics maker Bang & Olufsen and Sweden’s air purifier maker Blueair are among 162 apps and software development kits identified by Shanghai’s communications regulator for infringing on users’ personal data rights. British appliance maker Dyson, sportswear giant Nike, Japan’s Konica Minolta and Germany’s Miele were also cited for improper data practices. Issues included failure to clearly disclose data-handling policies, collecting personal information beyond authorized limits, mishandling user complaints and repeatedly or coercively requesting excessive permissions. The companies have been ordered to address the issues, carry out a self-assessment of their data and user rights practices and submit reports to authorities — or face regulatory action, the regulator said.
