Energy regulators must improve power network tariffs’ flexibility, EU Commission says

( July 2, 2025, 14:14 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Energy regulators should adopt more flexible electricity network tariffs to improve grid efficiency and reduce system costs, the European Commission said today in a guidance document. Better-designed network charges can enhance grid flexibility, provide locational incentives, and optimize overall system performance, the commission said. Increased tariff flexibility would also give consumers clear signals to shift their electricity use away from peak demand periods, helping to lower grid costs and electricity bills. The document, while not legally binding, advises member states on how to lower energy costs and accelerate the energy transition in line with the EU Clean Industrial Deal, the Affordable Energy Action Plan and the Renewable Energy Directive.Full documents attached:...
