EU countries seek simplified data rules, stronger coordination of regulators

The debate, held while Poland was chairing member state meetings, highlighted support for easing access to high-quality data, revisiting elements of the EU's General Data Protection Regulation, and potentially centralizing oversight under a new EU-level governance structure. Poland said in the document it hopes the overview will be considered by the European Commission, which is responsible for proposing legislation in the bloc.A document on the European Data Strategy, dated June 30 and seen by MLex, outlines a Council of the EU debate on data governance that took place while Poland was chairing meetings of member states....
