CADE Superintendence recommends fines, remedies in Apple Store probe

( July 1, 2025, 13:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Superintendence of Brazil’s competition authority has recommended that Apple be found guilty of anticompetitive conduct within its iOS ecosystem. Investigators found that Apple imposed abusive restrictions, such as requiring developers to use its proprietary payment system and prohibiting the sale of third-party digital services. The investigatory unit concluded that these practices create artificial barriers to market entry, hinder competition, and limit choices for developers and users. As a result, the authority proposed a fine and behavioral remedies, including the cessation of the investigated practices and removal of entry barriers.
