ANA-Nippon Cargo Airlines deal wins conditional approval from China

( July 1, 2025, 08:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China's top merger-control regulator announced today that it has conditionally approved ANA Holdings, Japan's largest airline group, in its proposed acquisition of Nippon Cargo Airlines, the country's sole international-freight operator. The State Administration for Market Regulation determined that the remedies proposed by ANA on June 19 would sufficiently mitigate the merger's potential anticompetitive effects. The conditions require ANA to continue or renew existing cargo ground-service agreements, provide fair services to new market entrants, and, under specific conditions, transfer no more than seven weekly cargo flight slots between Tokyo Narita and Shanghai Pudong to new entrants. If no entrants are identified within six months, the slots must be transferred within three months to a trustee-designated entrant. The statement follows and the remedies commitment plan is attached:...
