Subway under investigation in South Korea over online-order data leak

( July 1, 2025, 02:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Sandwich chain Subway is under investigation by South Korea’s privacy regulator after a flaw in its online-ordering system exposed customer information without proper authentication. The Personal Information Protection Commission said it has launched a probe to determine the exact cause and scale of the breach, assess whether Subway fulfilled its legal obligations for data security and will take enforcement action if violations are found. The vulnerability reportedly allowed users to access other customers’ contact details and order history simply by changing the digits at the end of a website URL — a flaw identical to one recently discovered in Papa John’s Korea.
