US ends Syria sanctions program, maintains blacklist of Assad-linked associates

( June 30, 2025, 21:28 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US President Donald Trump today signed an executive order terminating the Syria sanctions program. The US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is taking action to implement the order, removing 518 individuals and entities from the sanctions list. However, OFAC re-listed 139 people and entities affiliated with the prior Syrian government, saying sanctions would remain on Bashar al-Assad and his associates, as well as on human rights abusers, captagon traffickers, persons linked to past proliferation activities, ISIS and Al-Qaeda affiliates, and Iran and its proxies.Full order and statement follow:...
