South Korea launches annual antitrust survey covering retail, dealership sectors

( June 30, 2025, 02:52 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Retail giants such as Lotte, Shinsegae, Hyundai, GS25, CU, Coupang and Kakao are expected to be among the 42 brands whose supplier relationships are being scrutinized in South Korea’s latest antitrust survey. The Korea Fair Trade Commission will survey some 7,600 suppliers and vendors that do business with these retail brands across nine sectors — ranging from department stores and convenience chains to online platforms and home-shopping networks — focusing on unfair-trade practices, use of standard contracts and compliance with a new ban on management interference. In a parallel effort, the regulator will also survey 50,000 dealerships across 21 industries, including the newly added sports and leisure category, with a particular focus on how dealer associations are formed and operated, and how both suppliers and dealers perceive the right to collective organization.
