Google tells US court EU hearing officer won't weigh in on adtech suit document dispute

( June 27, 2025, 21:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google told a US federal court that a hearing officer at the European Commission has declined to weigh in on a dispute in which documents submitted by the tech giant to the EU as part of its adtech competition probe ought to be shared with the US Department of Justice. The hearing officer said they lacked jurisdiction over the issue and thus, Google is still left without any guidance or analysis for why it is permissible to share “grey-listed” materials with the DOJ, the company told the Eastern District of Virginia. Instead, Google proposed to produce non-settlement materials responsive to the DOJ's inquiries, to include Google’s Response to the EU’s Statement of Objections and the expert report of Professor Jason Nieh. "Due to the unsettled issue of whether such a production would be lawful under EU law, Google requests that the Court enter an order directing Google to produce these materials and permit Google one week to apply redactions to the non-settlement materials... before producing to Plaintiffs," Google said.See attached document....
