Australia's digital-platform forum endorses permanent role

( June 27, 2025, 07:28 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Australia’s key digital regulators have backed the competition watchdog’s recommendation in its final Digital Platform Services Inquiry report to endorse the Digital Platform Regulators Forum as a permanent body. In a joint statement today, the Digital Platforms Regulators Forum, known as DP-REG, said that if the government endorses the forum as a permanent forum, it would assist in responding to the “wide range of risks and harms stemming from the use of digital platforms that cut across multiple areas of regulation.” The forum is made up of representatives from the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission, the Australian Communications and Media Authority, the eSafety Commissioner and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.The full joint statement by the Digital Platform Regulators Forum follows:...
