Papa John's Korea probed by privacy regulator over years-long personal data leak

( June 26, 2025, 06:47 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Papa John’s Korea is under investigation by South Korea’s privacy regulator after reporting a long-running data leak involving customer order information. According to the Personal Information Protection Commission, the pizza restaurant chain notified the regulator on June 25 that names, phone numbers and addresses had been exposed online because of inadequate management of its website source code, with the exposed data dating back to January 2017. The regulator said it is investigating the cause and scale of the breach, as well as whether the company violated data retention limits or failed to implement legally required safeguards.
