Nord Pool, EPEX SPOT sanctioned in Belgium for market sharing

( June 26, 2025, 05:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Nord Pool and EPEX SPOT broke competition law by agreeing that their subsidiaries shouldn't enter each other's geographic markets. The infringement lasted from March 2009 to December 2015 and affected the market for electricty trading. The Belgian competition authority fined Nord Pool 79,810 euros — a "low" sum due to the penalty rules at the time that limited sanctions to 10 percent of Belgian domestic turnover.
