Regional fuel cartel fined in Brazil

By Maria Júlia Baumert ( June 25, 2025, 20:08 GMT | Insight) -- The Brazilian competition authority has fined seven fuel station networks and 10 individuals a total of over 154 million reais ($27 million) for operating a fuel price-fixing cartel in the country's Federal District and surrounding areas. The authority's Tribunal found that the companies colluded to fix fuel prices, harming consumers and distorting market competition. While some companies were cleared due to lack of evidence, the networks Gasolline, JB, Auto Shopping, Original, Posto Central, Jobral, and Xavante were found guilty and heavily fined.See full press release in portuguese:...
