The agreement forms part of the EU’s broader simplification agenda and will now move to negotiations with the European Parliament. Key changes include raising the employee threshold to 1,000 under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and to 5,000 under the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, thereby exempting small and medium-sized enterprises.
