Simplified rules on sustainability reporting, due diligence agreed by EU ministers

( June 24, 2025, 11:26 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU ministers today reached a common position on simplifying the EU’s corporate sustainability reporting and due diligence rules in a bid to reduce red tape and enhance competitiveness. The agreement forms part of the EU’s broader simplification agenda and will now move to negotiations with the European Parliament. Key changes include raising the employee threshold to 1,000 under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and to 5,000 under the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, thereby exempting small and medium-sized enterprises.
