US state privacy enforcers blast proposed AI moratorium

( June 23, 2025, 16:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A group of privacy enforcers from the states of California, Connecticut, Vermont, Delaware, New Jersey and Oregon have written to the US Senate, saying a proposed 10-year moratorium on the enforcement of state AI laws would "strip" Americans of existing privacy rights. "The Enforcement Moratorium’s sweeping provisions could rob millions of Americans of rights they already enjoy. We urge the Senate to reject the Enforcement Moratorium that would strip states of their ability to safeguard their residents’ privacy rights from AI-related harms," the California Privacy Protection Agency and six state attorneys general said in the letter to Senate leadership.See attached document....
