UK government seeks ways to help businesses borrow against IP

The proposal is part of a series of reforms aimed at encouraging growth among UK SMEs and start-ups as well as spurring commercial innovation.The UK government’s Modern Industrial Strategy, published yesterday, directs the British Business Bank – a state-owned financial institution charged with economic development – to work with the country’s Intellectual Property Office to “explore how to help businesses raise debt finance secured on intangible assets.”...
