( June 23, 2025, 11:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Malaysia and the European Free Trade Association, or EFTA, which comprises Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, announced the signing of a free trade agreement, or FTA, to support market diversification amid the challenging global trading landscape. Malaysian Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz said the FTA, the country’s 18th overall and first with several European countries, is expected to pave the way for expedited Malaysia-EU FTA negotiations. Upon entry into force, the agreement guarantees long-term duty-free access to more than 90 percent of Malaysia’s exports, including all industrial products, to the four signatory countries.
