Boost for EU electricity grids revamp as parliament adopts policy report

( June 19, 2025, 11:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Europe’s electricity grids have formally won vital support for more public and private financing, faster permitting and cost-reflective network tariffs after the full assembly of the European Parliament adopted its "own-initiative" report on revamping grid infrastructure. With 418 votes in favor, 112 against, and 45 abstentions, the report — earlier negotiated by energy lawmakers — will now serve as a formal request to the European Commission for legislation and is expected to shape its upcoming Grid Package later this year.
